13.4 Assignment: Integrative Case Study Presentation

This case-study assignment will help you to integrate the clinical-community practice material presented in the course. The assignment requires that you use your field placement and examine it as a case study within the context of organizational and community practice.  

References and APA: Use a minimum of four (4) different references from the required readings for this course. In addition, you must use a minimum of three (3) additional outside resources for any part of your presentation. Cite all sources within your presentation, and include a list of references in APA format at the end of your slideshow.

I.   ORGANIZATION-AGENCY LEVEL EXPLORATION

Give a brief description of the organization, including location, size, and mission. Identify the agency as governmental, nonprofit, or for-profit.

     A.  Agency Funding

Discuss the agency funding source  What is the process through which the organization receives funding? How are clients impacted by this funding source and/or method of payment?

     B.  Agency Vission, Mission, & Goals

Discuss the agencys published vision, mission, and goals. Evaluate and explain how the published material  aligns with the agencys daily practice.  You may wish to include information about staffing, operating procedures, and client outcomes. 

     C.  Boards of Directors/Community Stakeholders

Explain the governance of your organization and whether or not there is a board of directors.  If there is such a board, explicate its responsibilities.  Are community stakeholders included in the agency planning and operations, and if so, how?  Please discuss whether the actual practice matches the envisioned process.

II.  COMMUNITY CONTEXT ANALYSIS & ASSESSMENT

     A.  Behavioral Health Disparities and Issues of Community Trauma

Evaluate and discuss behavioral health disparities and issues of community trauma impacting the client systems targeted by your agency and how the agency addresses them or does not address them directly.  Are there other resources connected with your agency that do? What cultural and community issues are to be considered?

III.  LARGER SYSTEM-LEVEL ISSUES AND IMPLICATIONS

     A.  Public Health

Identify and address public health issues impacting the client systems targeted by your agency and how the issue/s impact the ability to collaborate/coordinate care.  Are there ways you might empower clients and the community to address the issue, and if so, please elucidate?

     B.  Policy

Identify and discuss an example of a policy impacting the clients served by your agency. Also discuss and example of one policy that impacts the agency itself.

IV.   PUTTING IT TOGETHER: PROGRAM ANALYSIS

     A.  Analysis of the Program Development Process

Discuss the method used to develop programs at your agency. Is the process top-down or are stakeholders involved in the process

     B.  Analysis of the Program Evaluation Process, Reporting, Improvement, Stakeholder Involvement Processes

Analyze the methods used for program evaluation at your field agency, including stakeholder involvement, procedures for evaluation, reporting protocols and recipients, and how evaluations are used for service improvement. 

     C.  Ethical issues

Select at least one complex ethical dilemma or potential ethical dilemma at play in your field placement agency. Consider issues pertaining to management, administration, non-profit boards, and community expectations among others, and explain the nature of the dilemma and possible solutions.
