You will virtually present your findings in a Power Point Presentation with VoiceThread. In a video no longer than 10 minutes and no more than 8 slides, you will present your analysis of the organization you selected. The presentation requires students to apply concepts from course readings to real world organizations. The process of breaking down the structure of an organization and developing an interpretation of those elements is an essential skill in the business world. In addition, presenters will learn as they teach others and contribute multiple critical perspectives.

Grading Rubric: the following will be taken into consideration when assigning a grade – 8-10 minute presentation, max 8 slides used, clear verbal presentation of research process and findings, clear and professionally designed slides.

Structure the presentation around the Organizational analysis. Begin your presentation with a summary of the Organization you selected – the rest of the presentation should offer support for your findings.

Make the presentation easy to follow. Your presentation does not have to follow the chronology of the questions posed to you by your professor. Rather, your research and what you choose to share in your presentation should determine the order of your points. Effective presentations will sequence information in a meaningful manner, with each point building upon the previous one and setting up the next.

Cite references clearly. If you summarize, paraphrase, or quote from outside sources, use signal phrases such as “Bolman persuasively argues or Posner defines leadership as. Such phrases allow the audience to differentiate your ideas from those of another critic. When you quote directly from a course author, give a page number so that audience members may review the source later.

Incorporate visual aids effectively. Your PowerPoint slides should be readable and have a clear connection to the presentation. Remember that visual aids help the audience to follow your points; they do not represent a transcript of your remarks. You want the audience to listen to you rather than tune you out as they read a text-heavy visual aid.

Conclude effectively. End the presentation with a statement that lets the audience know your overall feeling after your research. Do not say, “thats all” or “were done.” These statements diminish everything you have said.

Have fun. While you MUST create a PowerPoint Presentation, the format of the presentation is up to you. You may incorporate any elements into the presentation that help showcase your research.
