A research paper discussing an area of business ethics selected by the student. Accounting students must write on an issue of ethics in accounting. The paper must follow APA or MLA guidelines, be 7-10 pages in length (not including title page and bibliography), and follow standard formatting (standard margins, 12 pt. font size, Times New Roman, etc.). You will need a minimum of 10 sources for the paper. These sources should come primarily from academic journals and periodicals, but can include some newspapers and news magazines. Never use Wikipedia as a source in an academic paper! You should not count a dictionary as a one of your 10 sources, though if you quote a dictionary you must cite it and list it in your bibliography. Grading will be based on the following:
25% on basic writing guidelines – grammar, style, formatting, spelling
25% on providing a solid factual foundation for the paper
50% on going beyond reporting information about your topic and applying the principles of the course to the subject – For example, if your topic is downsizing, don’t just tell about how many people are downsized each year, but also discuss the related ethical issues.
