American History long answer questions

Answer 75 points worth of the following four questions. Answer as fully as possible, using full sentences and paragraphs. Each answer should be between 2 and 4 pages long, typed and double spaced. You may use any sources you wish.  Sources do not need to be fully cited, but please include a list of any sources beyond your course notes and  the textbook that you consulted in the process of writing the answers

1. Since the last test, I have presented you with the names and ideas of several historians and other thinkers. For 25 points, choose one. Explain who they are, what their prominent idea was, when the did their writing, and the impact, as you understand it, on US History. (You may, if you wish, answer this question twice as two of the three questions for this test, for a total of 50 points)

1. We talked about several different responses to slavery and its abolition. For 25 points, choose one, explain what the response was, who supported the response, howe effective it was, and the ongoing impact of the response on US History, as you understand it. (You may, if you wish, answer this question twice as two of the three questions for this test, for a total of 50 points)

1. I have introduced a large number of foods to you since the last test. For 25 points, choose one. Explain the history of the food – where it came from, how it was cultivated, how that cultivation affected human history, how it was eaten, who ate it, how the preparation of the food has changed over time, and, ultimately, the impact of the food on US History, as you understand it. (You may, if you wish, answer this question twice as two of the three questions for this test, for a total of 50 points)

1. For 25 points, answer the following. What is the imapct of  the Benevolent Empire on women’s rights in the US? Discuss efforts to address women’s rights in the context of the period under discussion – what were the major demands that women had? (This question can really only be answered once, for a total of  25 points)
