– 5 paragraphs – an essay for english class
Rough Draft Checklist
My essay is in MLA format. I checked the MLA guidelines document on Google Classroom and I have done all those things
Last name page number
Header (your name, my name, class and period, due date)
Double spaced
1inch margins
12 point font- Arial or Times New Roman, left aligned
Date in header is the final due date not today’s date
All paragraphs are indented
I have a creative title and it is centered (yes you HAVE to have a title)
All citations are complete and correct
My thesis is clear and states my claim. (i.e. the villain is…)
I have topic sentences for all my paragraphs
I have counterclaims in all of my paragraphs
All quotes are introduced, none of my quotes are the only thing in a sentence, none of my quotes are at the start of a sentence.
I have at least the minimum number of quotes
The short story is “in quotes” and the movie is Italicized
There are no spelling or grammar errors in my paper that I can tell. (i.e. I right clicked all the underlined words and fixed them and double checked my commas and periods)
My intro has a hook, background information, introduces the titles and authors, and has a thesis, has NO quotes
My conclusion is no less than 4 sentences long, recaps my thesis and my main points, has NO quotes.
I am submitting it to CANVAS not GOOGLE CLASSROOM!
