In this assignment, you will examine leadership styles, theories, and attributes to profile an ideal healthcare administrator and then create an animation video or whiteboard animation to share your findings.
Step 1. Review & Research
Review course materials and research other resources from the ACE Library and reputable websites for leadership types and theories in a healthcare organization. Document your references for your research and assemble pertinent information.
Step 2. Identify
Identify and list 2–4 skills you deem to be most relevant and critical to be an ideal healthcare administrator.
Step 3. Identify
Identify and list 2–4 attributes you deem most detrimental to successful healthcare administrators.
Step 4. Summarize
Summarize your research by outlining the following:
- Strengths and skills of an ideal healthcare administrator,
- Detrimental attributes and skills of an unsuccessful healthcare administrator, and
- The impact each type of healthcare administrator has on quality and cost effectiveness.
Step 5. Develop
Use the summary (Step 4) to develop an instructional animation video or whiteboard animation. Employ free, online software to create the animated video such as PowToon linked on the Learning Objects page. Your video-creation tool should allow you to share the video using a link.
Step 6. Reflect
Place a viewable link to your video in a Word document. Then, write a 2- to 3-page reflection for this assignment. Briefly summarize the content of your video. Then, answer the following questions in your reflection:
- Which original piece of research did you find most helpful for this assignment? Why?
- Did you have any “aha” moments when you were researching? In other words, was there anything you learned you could directly relate to your own experiences?
- How do you hope to apply what you have learned as a healthcare administrator?
Step 7. Submit
Submit your APA-formatted, 2- to 3-page reflection containing the link to your video. Include title and reference pages.
