Applied Software Engineering Problem Definition As part of SMART University project, Classroom Information Notification System (CINS) needs to be developed to provide university staff with information upon request and notify them of possible emergencies when they are in a classroom. CINS interacts with external controller and classroom sensors and provide information on a special classroom display. The external controller monitors various conditions (weather patterns, transport problems, traffic jams, University alert) and passes any relevant information onto the CINS. The system also monitors sensors in the class and collect information to pass to the staff either automatically or upon request. Sensors monitor temperature, noise, humidity and light. You are responsible for the design and implementation of CINS, which will receive information from the external controller and the class sensors and send information to the classroom display. Beside this the relevant information can be logged for a period of time and the logged data could be later used. You do not need to worry about the external controller or classroom display. For this, I need to do: Object-oriented analysis and design Risk Analysis – Risk Management Risk Assessment (Risk Identification, Risk Analysis, Risk Prioritisation) Risk Control (Risk management Planning, Risk resolution, Risk monitoring) Design – Understanding the Problem Domain ;- Boundary analysis, Actors, Concepts/ Object, Use Cases Capture the application functionality in a use case diagram (Use case Description) Provided a class diagram which captures all elements of the system (Class diagram and domain model with appropriate refactoring and abstraction) Explore the issues involved in the engineering task required and software design required (Sequence diagram and associated analysis exploring system behaviour) Show the main functions that must be provided by the system Document your engineering analysis findings
