Intervention Mapping Model can be used to reduce the spread of sexually transmitted diseases. Based on the model a step by step program can be used to combat STDs and its rising spread. This is an efficient and effective way to prevent incidents within a population. By establishing and working with a team of professionals within society they can conduct an assessment that can be implemented within the population setting. Next the outcomes of those results can be compared to behavioral and environmental outcomes that effect these behaviors related to sexual acts causing the spread of the disease. Social determinants can alter the population and their sexual promiscuity as well. Once data has been collected, a program can be designed to help deliver change methods. This program can help prepare plans and materials, implement protocols within a population to help educate and prevent the spread of STDs. Once the program has a secure foundation it can then be implemented. Once implemented the plan can be re-evaluated to see if there are any flaws. 

The intervention mapping model is a solid plan of action as it requires a lot of steps to be fully effective. This is great because along the way the plan can be changed as needed. It is easier to make changes as you go along rather than at the very end when processes and protocols have been put in place. The weakness of the model is that there are too many steps that could lead to a delay in implementation of the processes. With each step there is always a barrier that comes across that may need to be changed which delays the overall outcome of helping society.
