My Title: Soft drinks and violence: Causal relationship or methodological artifact?

Do I think that drinking soda causes teens to become more violent? Yes, I do. The reason is that teens tend to drink too much soda, in my opinion. Soda has empty calories and sugar, which causes you to become hyper and more irritable than usual. That’s why it makes sense that if a person drinks too much soda, there will be adverse side effects such as violence, problems with school, and even depression. The research shows a strong association between soft drinks and violence. There may be a direct cause-and-effect relationship, perhaps due to the sugar or caffeine content of soft drinks, or there may be other factors unaccounted for that cause both high soft drink consumption and aggression.  My methodological problem with this study is that it doesn’t show which came first, the soda or the violence. Does drinking too much soda cause teens to become more violent, or does being more prone to violence make one drink more sodas? It’s hard to say as this study was not clear enough about how it proved its hypothesis.
