Part A: Position (job) description (marked out of 30) This part of the assessment will be carried out in pairs The purpose of Part A is to carry out a job analysis (by way of an interview with the current job holder). From this job analysis, students will then write a position (job) description. The position (job) description exercise must be completed in student pairs. The selection of pairs will be made by the tutor. Each pair will be assigned an organisation and specific person to interview, during class time in week 5. The instructions for the week 5 class and interviews will be placed on Moodle. In the week 4 class, students will be assigned their partner and organisation (person) to interview. Students who do not attend the week 4 class MUST contact the tutor by phone or in person immediately. No referencing is required for Part A. There is no word limit for Part A. It is the responsibility of the students, in each pair, to exchange contact details and arrange their pre-interview and post-interview meetings. Both students must attend and participate in the interview process and work together in the writing of the job description. Students are asked to submit the position (job) description within 2 weeks of their interview. 2 Submission is by email to the tutor, with both student names and student ID numbers listed, along with the name of the person interviewed. PART B: Recruitment and Selection Process: Accer Plastics Limited (marked out of 70) Due date: The prescribed deadline is no later than 4pm on Monday 27 May 2013. Word Limit: Part B: 1,800 words Exclusions from Part B word limit: Cover sheet, title page, reference list/bibliography Submission: Assignment must be submitted via Turnitin AND an identical copy deposited into the tutor’s staff assignment box by the prescribed deadline. Part B: Instructions Part B is an individual assignment, NOT a group assignment. Your assignment must be your own individual work. Part B is to be completed in a report format. A template for reports is available on Moodle. Carefully read [and re-read!] the case study. You are a HR consultant, contracted by Accer Plastics Limited to review their recruitment and selection processes AND propose a new recruitment and selection process, based on industry best practice and best fit. To identify industry best practice and therefore provide quality advice to your client, you must carry out adequate research and reading. For best fit, you need to consider the needs of this particular business. The material that you use must be properly referenced (using APA format) in a reference/bibliography list. In-text referencing (in the body of the report) is NOT required. A copy of the APA referencing instructions are on Moodle. Sections of the Report (refer to example on Moodle): Parts 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 of the report should be kept reasonably brief. The majority of your material (and words) will be placed under parts 7 and 9 3 Parts 10 and 11 are not required for this assignment. Part 12: Bibliography/reference list MUST be provided. Diagrams or charts may be used in your assignment and are to be included in the word count. Academic Research: Minimum number of resources: Three books (paper or e-books) Two journal articles Two newspaper or magazine articles Marks have been allocated in the marking schedule for the minimum number of resources. Additional marks have been allocated for evidence of quality research beyond the minimum requirements. Quality Research: You must use the most up-to-date material available, to reflect current best practice/best fit. Use only reliable sources of information Use only relevant material and material that is useful for Accer.
