1.     Issue:  What was the controversy in the case? This will always be a question you ask. What is the court trying to decide?

2.     Rule:  What rule or rules of law did the court use in determining the verdict? This will be laws, statutes, Constitution, Amendment, Clauses, or cases that are mentioned.

3.     Analysis:  How did the court reason or rationalize using the rule with the facts to come to their determination? This will be your biggest section and will be entirely in your own words. This is not a synopsis of the case. This is your own reasoning and explaining.

4.     Conclusion:  What did the court decide? This will be the answer to the Issue’s question. Will begin with a “yes” or “no”.
