You will be required to present results and discussion sections for two different areas of biomechanics analysis. You will have the choice of two from three of the following areas: Movement, Force and Electromyography (EMG) to include in your report. You will be provided with an introduction and methods section as well as data for each of the three areas of analysis. Based on the introduction, methods and data provided, you will need to provide an appropriate study aim, results section, discussion section and references for each of the two areas of analysis that you include.
Formatting: Font Arial or Times New Roman, font size 12, line spacing 1.5, margins minimum of 2.5 cm all around.
Choose two of the following three areas: Movement, Force and Electromyography (EMG). For each area, you will be provided with an introduction, methods section and results data. For both of the two areas that you choose to include in your report, you will need to include the following:
– Aim: a concise aim for the study, based on the introduction that is provided.
– Results: appropriately formatted results presented in table(s) and / or figure(s) with a supporting narrative. See biomechanics papers in the Journal of Sports Sciences for examples of graph and table formatting. Ensure that the narrative concisely guides the reader through the results.
– Discussion: based on your results presented, provide a discussion of those results in light of the study aim. Be sure to include supporting literature to inform your interpretation of the results.
– References: APA 6th edition for both in-text references and the reference list for each section.
Key Marking Guidance Per Section
In addition to level-specific criteria for Level 5 coursework assessment, your report should be written in an appropriate scientific manner. You must write in the past tense and in the third person i.e. avoid using ‘I’ and ‘we’. In addition to this guidance, please refer to the relevant lectures and laboratory classes where the topic areas are detailed. An optional drop-in session is provided in Week 39 to address any questions that you have, in addition, a Moodle forum will be available to be able to ask any questions relevant to the coursework.
