Compare both authors to the list of common elements of Modernist writing.
Do the two writers you selected match the definition of Modernism found in our notes? How? In particular, check out slides 15-27 from our lecture. Do your chosen authors match any of the elements listed there? Are they pessimistic? Are they interested in psychology? Do they feature a strong central “I” narrator? Any use of stream-of-consciousness? Any experimentation, trying to write in a really unique or different way? Use specific examples (quotes) from your two authors’ writing to show and explain how their poems or stories match up with the ideas of Modernism.
