Comprehensive Developmental School Counseling Program
For this assignment, you can work with up to three classmates. You have just been approached by your
administration to create a new counseling program Develop a comprehensive developmental school
counseling program and present it to the class as if you were giving a presentation to your school’s
administration. You want to sell them on implementing a comprehensive developmental school counseling program designed to increase their students’ success.
Remember, administrators sometimes have short attention spans. Your presentation should be of a
“bullet-point” nature, using power point graphics, possibly including short handouts, and should last
approximately 10-15 minutes.
You are not only presenting, you are also creating a model for your school to use. Make sure you include the following:
a. Title page and names of group members
b. Mission statement for your school counseling program
c. Description of how you will assess the success of your program has happened).
d. Components of a comprehensive school counseling program with a description of each component
i.e. direct services, classroom guidance, needs assessments, groups, college counseling, etc.
e. Determination of grade level goals
f. Benefits to the school, principal/supervisor, students, teachers, and community.
Grading will be based on thoroughness of the plan, quality of content, and technical presentation.
Incorporate and adapt components of developmental models already in existence into your management plan, as well include your own creative ideas and activities.
