Chapter 7 discusses the use of cost-benefit analysis as a policy evaluation tool. Research a proposed or actual policy (from the list below or on a topic of your choice) for which you can perform a basic cost-benefit analysis. Using the four major steps of cost-benefit analysis discussed in the Anderson text, put together a cost-benefit analysis on the policy. There may be an existing cost-benefit analysis already compiled. While it is okay to cite data/information from that analysis, you need to provide your own insights into your discussion post.
Discuss the weaknesses and the extent of usefulness of the analysis. Are there challenges that make a cost-benefit analysis problematic? Based on your research and the cost-benefit analysis, should the policy continue? What policy options should be considered by policymakers? Explain what factors may make terminating the policy difficult to achieve.
