Students are required to submit a 3,000-6,000 word cost benefit analysis case study specific to some building technology, project or development. Actual word count depends on the number of students responsible for the work (1 person = 3,000; 4 persons = 6,000). Individual grades will be allocated equally unless prior agreement is given. The case study data can be sourced from any publically available resources, and needs to follow the examples provided in class. Submissions are to be in electronic PDF format only. Marks will be awarded for currency and relevance of the data, explanation and interpretation of the results, use of figures and illustrations, technical cost benefit analysis and structure of the report. Option: This is a case study and must be specific to a particular and actual building project or development. It can be any type or mix of building, including commercial, industrial, residential, civil, mining and/or infrastructure work. You can choose to focus on a particular technology, the building itself, or an entire development. The important constraint is that you need to produce a single cost-benefit analysis to cover everything you include.
