5. How does these findings compare to other language contact cases? How do they compare to other findings in similar studies?
6. Are they any caveats about the findings?
7. Conclusion: what implications do the findings have for other (potential) cases of contact? What is the significance of the study?
For this assignment, the first part of your essay will be descriptive: state hypothesis, methods, and findings.
The second part is critical: analyze the approach, put the study into context (using examples from class or ones you have found on your own), and evaluate the article’s contribution to the field of contact linguistics.
