Instruction for Week 2 DISCUSSION
Use no more than 1-2 paragraphs to summarize a few aspects of your cultural autobiography: Some points to include would be:
- Use the appropriate ‘cultural syndromes’ outlined in the article “Culture and Conflict” from the Week 1 readings to help describe the attitudes, beliefs and values of your family background.
I explained these in the order #500438, also, I forgot to mention but my mother tell me to thank always. We go to shrine for new year, (every year we go back to Japan for winter time) and pray, but my mother says that we should not ask anything, just thank for everything you got and where you are now.
- Include any important life events that have influenced your cultural development.
I don’t have a particular event that influenced my cultural development. As I mentioned my mother is Japanese, so I have been influenced by Japanese culture more or less, but that is not an event, it’s just everyday life. However, if you call this as one of culture aspects, when I move to new place I was having difficulties to be included. Also, when my grade teacher told in class that Japanese eat Kentucky Fried Chicken at Christmas and everyone laughed, it hurts me and made me a little angry although the teacher didn’t intend to hurt me. He was just making a joke.
- Identify and discuss the cultural symbols in your life and what they represent.
I don’t know what is the cultural symbols are.
