Define Your Own Lie
200-300 words
Your first paper is a short and hopefully enjoyable assignment. I want you to write a 200-300 word short paper in which you define your own lie in the vein of Stephanie Ericssons essay The Ways We Lie. You may think of this as a reading response paper to Ericssons essay. I want you to cite her essay at least once and explain a type of lie that she did not cover. Write an introduction about lying that mentions Ericssons essay, define your lie, give examples of it, and describe if you think the lie is harmful or not harmful.
For exampleand do not use this one pleaseThe My Computer Crashed Lie in which panicked students who forgot to do their English paper write their professor pretending that their computer crashed in the hopes of getting an extension. Your lie can be a broad category of deception that her essay didnt cover or else a specific type of lie that might or might not fit under one of her terms. A type of faade that a certain profession must use? A lie of omission that helps people? Whatever youd like.
While this essay can be fun, I do expect the essay to be proofread and error-free. And most importantly this essay needs to be in APA formatting. This is your chance to practice APA formatting.
Please do the following:
- Give your essay an original title. Not just Define a Lie or First Paper but a title specific to your paper.
- Quote Ericssons essay at least once and use a proper APA in-text citation. (You may quote additional sources too if youd like, although it is not required.)
- Include a proper APA title page and APA reference page.
- Turn in before midnight
