Instructions

Answer ONE of the questions for the story (from the textbook) in the discussion board below. Your response should be at least 200 words and incorporate some direct quotations from the story as evidence to support your interpretation. Be sure to use MLA for in-text citations when you summarize, paraphrase, or quote any material that comes from the story. To prepare for our formal essays, use third-person — no I, me, we, us, you, and so on.  

In addition, respond to two peers’ posts in at least 100 words each, contributing to the ongoing conversation. Your response should add a new idea or ask a question. Simply rephrasing your peers’ posts in a response to it is not going to keep conversation going. Phrases to NOT use: "I agree!" or "I really like this."

Discussion questions for Neil Gaiman’s "How to Talk to Girls"

o   What is Enn’s impression of Vic at the beginning of the story? Has it changed by the end? Explain 

o   In paragraph 7, Vic tells Enn that he needs to talk to girls if he is going to make any headway with them. Does Enn follow Vic’s advice? Doe the story actually explain or illustrate "how to talk to girls at parties"? 

o   In paragraph 16, Vic says, "They’re just girls,… They don’t come from another planet." How does this statement foreshadow the events to come? What other instances of foreshadowing can you identify?
