Task:
On successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. Explain the scope and compliance requirements of relevant industry standards to the reprocessing of reusable medical devices in a clinical context.
2. Audit a reprocessing cycle to determine compliance to industry standards.
Students must attempt and submit all assessment tasks specified for this course at the time to a reasonable level, by the due date and place stipulated by the lecturer.
Extensions are granted only in extenuating circumstances. The student must provide evidence of the extenuating circumstance to the course coordinator (or Programme Manager if across multiple courses) and the evidence must be considered satisfactory by the Course Coordinator.
a. Students who anticipate having difficulty in submitting assessments by the due time and date must request in writing (email) an extension from the Tutor. Course Coordinators will only consider extension requests that are received at least one week prior to the assessment due date.
b. The amount of time granted as an extension is at the discretion of the course coordinator and will be decided on a case-by-case basis depending on the extenuating circumstances.
c. Extensions for assessments that fall outside of the course end date can only be approved by the Executive Dean. Normally such extensions will be limited to no more than three months post the course end date.
d. Permission to sit a test, practical assessment or examination at a time or place other than that designated must be obtained from the relevant Programme Manager at least two weeks prior to the scheduled test/assessment/examination date. Such permission will be granted where an appropriate environment and adequate supervision can be arranged.
Re-submissions of Course Assessment Tasks
Unless otherwise indicated in the regulations for the programme of study:
a. Students will be permitted one resubmission PER COURSE as per the Academic Regulations. The maximum mark available for any resubmission of an assessment task shall be the minimum pass mark.
b. Re‐submissions/re‐sits will only be available to students who have submitted and reasonably attempted an assessment task by the due date and time, and that have attained a mark between 30-49%.
c. Requests for re‐submissions/re‐sits must be made to the relevant Programme Manager no later than 5 working days after the final course portfolio assessment task has been marked and returned to the student.
