This assignment is an opportunity for you to explore some of the scientific research currently available regarding the positive health benefits of laughter and humor. There are literally hundreds of studies conducted that reveal the physical and psychological healing benefits of laughter and humor. Explore the research on the effects of laughter on the cardiovascular, immune, respiratory, endocrine and muscular systems. Look at some of the data on the effects upon anxiety, anger and depression levels. Then, select one full length, feature article from a professional scientific journal for review. Please use scholarly, research-based journals. Examples include: International Journal of Humor Research, Journal of Cognitive Psychotherapy, Journal of Gerontology, American Journal of Public Health, etc. (Hint, they will contain an abstract or review, explanation of the study, sample size, population, results and perhaps limitations, etc.) Each article must be at least 2 full pages in length and dated from 2009 to the present. Newsstand magazines designed for the general public will not be accepted.
