10-15 pages (including references), double-spaced, standard (e.g., Times New Roman, Aria,
Calibri) 12-point font (tables if any can be 10 font), can use headings and subheadings to help
with clarity and flow
1) Focus is on an area of gender/sexuality, from a psychological perspective. The exact topic,
focus, is determined by the student.
2) The paper can build on the research and writing in your annotated bibliography.
3) The paper should include the following general areas:
a) Paper focus (thesis statement, problem statement (including which population is of
focus and the scope (prevalence) and relevance of the issue/problem you have selected),
primary research question guiding your work for the paper),
b) Background critical review of the literature of theoretical perspectives and primary
scholarly research (empirical studies) relevant to the area and population of focus.
c) Key challenges (based on your literature review) and Recommendations to
solving/addressing the problem (could include changes in theoretical perspectives,
policy, laws, addressing stigma, resources, how health care system is organized,
relevant cultural issues and so forth)
d) Summary/future directions to include brief summary, limitations, and future direction.
e) References (APA style).
