First, discuss how Young’s emphasis on “cultural imperialism”, and analysis of the (social) codes of “respectability” and “professionalism” (see opening of Scaling of Bodies), shows again why an emphasis on “de jure”/legal or formal equality (Mills) does not guarantee real (“de facto”) equality for different (or “all”) people in a state, economy, or (civil) society.

Second, discuss how Young’s notions of “cultural revolution” or “consciousness raising”, which can counter-act cultural imperialist norms of abject/othering (see second half of Scaling of Bodies), can relate or compare to Tommy Curry’s (Michael Brown) critical analysis of standard public notions and institutions, where he points out that the defense of “democracy” and “justice” can reinforce the violence and oppression that black men face, and thus calls for his own transformation of concepts/values through a new “genre” study of black, male life. {Consider a couple of examples or “applications” here in your argument}.
