  1. The company you selected is your target audience. Your paper should be written to them as well as your transmittal letter since they are who you are trying to persuade. Do not write the proposal or transmittal letter to me.
  2. Finalize your problem and solution and coplete your research. Aminimum of 6 sources for the larger project. These sources shoul be high quality and substantial. You may use journals, periodicals, books, interiews, surveys, etc. The sources from your research proposal count towards the total. Please cite them and include them in the bibliography.
  3. Draft your Formal Proposal. Your proposal should include the following elements (see Ch 10.1):
    1. Transmittal letter
    2.  Executive summary or abstract or synopsis
    3. Title Page
    4. Table of contents
    5. Introduction
    6. Backgroung, problem, purpose
    7. Proposal, plan schedule
    8. Staffing
    9. Budget
    10. Appendices
    11. Bibliography
  4. You need to follow MLA formatting for in text citations, bibliography, headings, margins, etc.
  5. See figure 10.19 for a sample report. Formal proposals are formatted very similarly to formal reports.
    1. The order of the transmittal letter, executive summary, title page and table of contents is slightly different. Follow the order in 10.1a figure 10.1.
    2. Instead of body, conclusion and recommendations, the formal proposal has 
      1. Background, problem, purpose
      2. Proposal, plan schedule
      3. Staffing
      4. Budget
  6. Go over the Formal Proposal Checklist  to make sure you meet these items.
  7. Upload and submit your  word document on Canvas. To submit:
    1.  Click on the assignment (also located in Module 6).
    2. Click on submit.
    3. Choose your file.
    4. Click on submit your assignment.

  4. Use concise language.
  5. Use proper grammar and spelling.
  6. Organize ideas logically.
  7. Support your ideas with sufficient sources and evidence.
  8. Follow the formatting in figure 10.19
