The richness of the African American culture along with the existence of a wide range of African American artists has contributed to the existence of many kinds of traditional and modern African American artwork.

The African American artist identified includes John Biggers, Michael Ray Charles, Diedrick Brackens, Robert Hodge, and Angelbert Metoyer. The selected artist focus on paintings, sculpturing, audio-visual portraits, self-portraiture, among other forms of art (Ragbir, 2020). Their work expresses the vulnerability of being an African American in a country where racism is still a major concern, Black womanhood and power, myths relating to African American cultures, and the chaos surrounding African American discrimination.
