Learning outcomes to be assessed:
 Demonstrate knowledge and skills in the principles of using a variety of types of evidence and show an understanding of the links between evidence and practice.
 Demonstrate a systematic and in-depth understanding of how to select an appropriate perspective and time horizon for costing; sources of data and methods to estimate resource use associated with healthcare interventions
 Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of criteria for defining good methods to measure and value health outcomes.
 Critically apply appropriate criteria to assess quality of available evidence and economic models (quality assurance and validation).
 Critically apply economic evaluation techniques to inform decision making.
 Gather, critically appraise and synthesise public health and health promotion related information drawn from a wide range of sources.
 Communicate effectiveness and cost-effectiveness evidence.
Submission:
Your final submission will have two parts:
Part A (70% of total marks): You should produce a poster (A3 size: 11 x 17 inches in a PDF format) based on your critical appraisal of the above article.
 The poster must include the following components: Background; Methods; Results; Discussions; Policy implications
 Use of images including graphs and charts are encouraged. Please follow best practice guidelines on plagiarism while using images off the internet.

Part B (30% of total marks): Make an oral presentation of your poster to a tutor on a live Canvas session (10 min presentation followed by 10 min questions and answer). The actual presentation time will be communicated to you in advance.
While creating the poster, please give particular attention to:
• The context in which the original study was designed
• Your approach to review, in particular:
o if you have used any critical appraisal tool and why
o how you have applied the tool to inform your critique
 Components of the study being reviewed:
o Type of economic evaluation
o Study objectives
o PICO (Population, Intervention, Comparator and Outcomes)
o Study methods (consider all methodological attributes and limitations)
o Study results (consider main results and their uncertainty)
o Study conclusion (consider implications of any study limitation)
• What could be concluded based on your own critique, their implications for future policy, practice and research
• List of references to be included in the poster (max number of references allowed=5)
Word length: suitable for A3 poster.

Demonstrates excellence in the appropriate use of the relevant literature, theory, methodologies, practices, tools, etc., to analyse and synthesise at Masters Level. Shows excellent clarity, focus and cogency in communication.
Grade Band B (B+, B, B-)
Clearly demonstrates a well-developed, critical and comprehensive understanding of the topic. Clearly demonstrates the ability to develop an independent, systematic and logical or insightful argument or evaluation. Demonstrates a high degree of competence in the appropriate use of the relevant literature, theory, methodologies, practices, tools, etc., to analyse and synthesise at Masters Level. Shows a high level of clarity, focus and cogency in communication.
Grade Band C (C+, C, C-)
Demonstrates a critical and substantial understanding of the topic. Demonstrates the ability to develop an independent, systematic and logical or insightful argument or evaluation. Demonstrates a significant degree of competence in the appropriate use of the relevant literature, theory, methodologies, practices, tools, etc., to analyse and synthesise at Masters Level. Provides evidence of clarity, focus and cogency in communication.
Grade Band D (D+, D, D-)
Provides evidence of some critical understanding of the topic. Demonstrates some ability to develop a structured argument or evaluation. Demonstrates an acceptable degree of competence in the appropriate use of the relevant literature, theory, methodologies, practices, tools, etc., to analyse and synthesise, but not at Masters Level. Provides evidence of effective communication.
Grade Band E (E+, E, E-)
Work that demonstrates significant weaknesses, but which provides strong evidence that Grade D is within the reach of the student.
Grade F
Work that is unacceptable.
