It’s taken me far too long to come to terms with using The American Psychological Association style. Initially, it was a frustration to use for me as I did not do well with conforming to the rules on citations. Now, with my new degree focus I can understand more about why this formatting is so useful.

Use of the standard formatting known as the American Psychological Association, or the APA Style started in 1929. The American Psychological Association style was a creation formed from a cohesive group effort of professional psychologists, business professionals and managers, and scientist of varies fields. These professionals worked to create a formal style of guidelines and procedures that would use components of scientific writing and a systematic code to convey the findings and work with ease for any readers’ ability to understand. The American Psychological Association style was published in an article of the Psychological Bulletin. The article shared the professionals standard of procedure, to which exceptions would doubtless be necessary, but to which reference might be made in cases of doubt (Bentley et al., 1929, p. 57).

The American Psychological Association style was initially a seven-page article. Since its creation, the American Psychological Association style has increased in size and users. Professionals from all occupations now use this format as a standard by which all can use to create professional work and by which a reader can understand no matter the subject.
