You and a small group of friends have plans to develop a new product that you believe will be
revolutionary in the clean energy field: a new form of rechargeable battery that is smaller, more
lightweight, and can hold more energy than anything else in the field. You are planning to form a
company for your work, and want to make sure you get protections for your intellectual property
in place right from the start. Besides your product concept, you’ve got a catchy slogan and name
for your company, and plan on developing a website with lots of content about the product and
clean energy in general.
Identify the various types of intellectual property that you will need to protect. How will you
protect this property? Explain the steps you plan to take and how this will protect your property.
Make sure to discuss any limits on the protection. Also, keep in mind that there may be more
than one way to protect IP. If there are pros and cons to the options you choose, please discuss
them fully.
