You will write a multi-paragraph essay where you answer a question by using multiple texts, including the book discussed in this unit. In this essay, you are not summarizing different sources. Instead, you are synthesizing information (creating connections between texts) to answer the question you have chosen.
Essay Requirements:
Your essay must contain the following pieces:
Evidence from The Autobiography of Malcolm X (As Told To Alex Haley) by Alex Haley
Inclusion of at least 3 other sources as evidence to support your claim
You should have a total of 4 sources (including the book)
One body paragraph per source of 12-15 sentences with at least 1 quote from Malcolm X and at least 2 quotes from your source with explanations to support your claim
You should have at least 3 body paragraphs
Each body paragraph needs 3 quotes minimum (1 from Malcolm X, 2 from your source)
Introduction paragraph with a strong, defendable thesis statement
Conclusion paragraph
Works Cited page with all of the sources you quoted or included/paraphrased in your essay
