Part I:
When you are part of culture, you may not notice your own social, political, and cultural influences as obviously as others from outside cultures might notice them. Situate yourself in Mexican culture. Imagine you are part of Mexican culture and discuss one social, political, or cultural influences from the readings that may seem ordinary to you, but not to outsiders looking in. Then go on to explain why you believe this influence would be difficult to notice as an insider.
Some of you may already have roots or connections to Mexico, so it may not be necessary to use your imagination to place yourself into this culture. If you have personal experiences to share, feel free to draw from them, but do reference the readings as well.
Part II:
Next, consider some of the creative approaches individuals have to social, political, and cultural influences. Using the reading or outside research, introduce one artistic expression from Mexican culture that may help one to express individuality, independence, and creativity. What can this act of artistic expression do to open up the experience of the individual? How can it expand the perspective of the artist and possibly the whole country or culture?
You will want to use APA format with in-text and full end reference for citation of sources, which can help to give credit to the research you used and also to distinguish between your ideas and the sources.
