My nursing indirect care project has to do with creating a disaster/emergency plan for patients on the labor and delivery floor, and taking on the role of leadership. Nursing Reflection Questions
Question one
Considering that nursing is a science that is involved with the maintenance of health wellness, development of a foundational knowledge of the arts, sciences and humanities do play a role in examining the impact of behavioral changes and in promotion of health and wellness. One reason for such an assertion is that foundational knowledge in humanity for instance, aids in provision of a patient centered care this is so because it helps one identify, respect and care about the various values that the patients hold. Knowledge in sciences on the other hand aid in utilizing of informatics such as the electronic communication and using electronic data. Art comes in handy when the doctors need to come up with ideas on how they should address the patients’ conditions. This explains why the foundational knowledge of the three subjects is of essence when it comes to examination of behavioral change as well as in promotion of health and wellness.
Question two
Information and communication technologies have, since their inception in the nursing sector, played a very imperative role with regards to enhancing the quality of services offered in this sector. Such an assertion comes from the fact that the aforementioned concept does enhance effective communication between the staff members within the hospital setting. For instance, in my practicum experience, I was looking forward to coming up with an emergency/ disaster response plan in the labor ward as well as in the delivery floor. Use of automated communication systems in these places in the hospital would serve a great deal as they would ensure immediate communication among the doctors in the event an emergency erupts. This would ensure that all emergency situations are handled in the best and most effective way possible. Ideally, use of automated landlines within the offices as well as creating devices that do communicate to the relevant doctors once a patients is brought in the hospital is a clear indication of how information and communication technologies are bound to impact positively on my practice experience.
