Step 1: Answer the following questions in your initial post. You can choose to focus on some questions more than others.  400+ Words

1. What did you learn about the life of Alberto Ledesma? Think about his experience coming to the United States,  with DACA, school, higher education, and what he shares about his art. 
2. “Undocumented Young Adults in LA”: What might Gonzales be arguing about exclusion and belonging for both documented and undocumented Americans? 
3. “Undocumented Young Adults in LA”: What is Gonzales point about college-goers and early-exiters? What struggles did undocumented students face while trying to go to college? Give specific examples from the text. 
4. Compare the two readings: Gonzales’s text is a research-based article, whereas Ledesma shares his experience through art. How did Gonzales help you understand and provide context for Ledesma’s experiences?  

Step 2: Choose one of the images from the first ten pages of Ledesma’s text and practice rhetorical analysis. Think about the same questions from Lecture Response #1. 200+ words. 

1. What arguments is the author making? How do you know?
2. How do the images make that argument? (Think about: foreground, background, color and shading, individual images, distance between images, relationship between images and background, Empty space, people: expressions, body language, clothes, activities
3. If there is text, how does the text make that argument?
4. What appeals or techniques does the author use to make their argument?
5. What is the context of the argument? (connect to the experiences Ledesma shared and the research from Gonzales)
6. Initial posts should be 600+ words total (400+ for the questions and 200 for the rhetorical analysis)
