Directions
1. Review the Government of Canada’s – Action for Seniors report, available at https://www.canada.ca/en/employment-social-development/programs/seniors-action-report.html
2. Connect with your group members (4-5 learners per group) and pick an issue that affects the older adult population. Some examples that appear in the report include, but are not limited to:
 Enabling active participation in labor force and community
 Financial literacy
 Innovative care
 Aging in place
 Supporting mental health
 Healthy and active aging
 Preventing elder abuse
3. Once you have chosen a potential topic (please keep in mind it can be a topic that is not covered in the report), connect with your instructor to obtain topic approval. Please note that presentations completed without prior approval may receive a grade of zero.
4. As a group, your research should focus on how the issue affects the older adult. Ensure you address the following questions:
 How does your topic affect the health and wellness of the older adult?
 As a practical nurse learner, how can you promote health in relation to your topic?
5. Complete an internet search on academic posters and share some examples with your group members.
6. Create a poster presentation for your peers discussing your topic as it adheres to an academic poster presentation format. Your instructor will inform you whether the poster presentations will be in class or on D2L discussion boards for presentation. 7. Submit all presentation materials to your instructor. Submit an APA formatted reference list and peer evaluation forms via Brightspace’s electronic dropbox.
8. When posters are presented in-class or on D2L discussion boards, your group must view and answer the following questions about three other group’s presentations using the following guide:
 Which group’s presentation did you review?
 Explain in your own words, the main topic that was covered. Note this should be a minimum of 3-4 sentences.
 Why do you think this topic is relevant to the older population?
 What did you take away from the presentation that will influence your future nursing practice?
9. Please upload your document to the D2L Dropbox containing the group’s responses to the questions above. Your response should be approximately one page in length per review, and you should have reviewed three group projects.
