Final Exam Structure
The final take-home exam covers topics in the management accounting part of this course. You are required to analyse an authentic case and provide solutions to questions at the end of the case.
Please find below the structure of the take-home exam questions. The exact marks and word limits for each question may be subject to changes.
Q1: Cash budget (25 marks)
Q2: Break-even analysis (7 marks)
Q3: Flexible budget and variance analysis (25 marks)
Full cost calculation (5 marks)
Q4: Cost-volume-profit analysis alternative situation – the effect of special offer on profit. Comment on the alternative situation (word limit 100 words) (7 marks)
Q5: (a) Suggest strategies for performance improvement (25 marks; word limit 700-800 words)
(b) Comment on the issue about corporate social responsibility in the case (6 marks; word limit 100-150 words)
The exam paper adds to 100 marks and comprises 50% of your overall mark for the course.
The first four questions test your ability to solve the computational questions using models and techniques learned from this course. The fifth question requires you to provide strategic solutions to the case and comment on the CSR issue. You are required to use the Harvard system for references, if you have any.
