Select and review one article (located in the Course Information section) and write a five-seven page (Cover page and reference pages do not count towards the 5-7 pages) APA paper with a minimum of 5 references, one being the article itself. Your paper will discuss the following material:
- Briefly summarize the major theme of the work and state what was the authors purpose in writing it. (2-3 Paragraphs)
- What is the scope of this essay? What are the limits of the subject matter; what is included and what is excluded? What theoretical or philosophical perspective does the author seem to hold? Identify the supporting ideas or premises on which the author bases his/her ideas. (2-3 Paragraphs)
- Identify those ideas or conclusions that would seem to generate the most interest, insight, or controversy for readers. (1-2 Paragraphs)
- Discuss the implications of the authors ideas regarding communication and organizations. What are the strengths and weaknesses of the article? Address the specific methods the study employed. Do the methods employed to provide appropriate evidence to support the conclusions? (Give specific examples from the work and cite page numbers, etc. — Are the assumptions sound; is the evidence convincing; are the explanations complete; is the writing clear? Specifically, address the arguments the author(s) is making and the evidence offered to support those claims. (3-4 paragraphs)
- How did you like the article? Did you learn anything of value? Where might you go to learn more about this works subject? (Please give at least three additional sources that are not listed in the references of the work.) (1-2 paragraphs and references)
- An A paper will be well-composed, concise (stays within page limits), turned in on time, correctly APA formatted (including the use of APA level headings to identify required response areas indicated above), error-free, and include the elements described above. I recommend using the 5 topics above as each of your headings in the paper. An Abstract is not required for this paper.
