Instructions

The revision process is an important part of producing a strong final product. Most papers will go through multiple stages, or drafts, before they are considered complete. These stages may consist of reorganization, development, following formatting guidelines, proofreading & grammar polishing, and more. To reinforce the practice of revisiting your work, and to bring your paper even closer to academic standards, you will continue to revise Paper 1  and build on it before submitting it as your final draft.

The paper topic and instructions will remain the same as in the first draft, and  for the final draft you will apply the steps below. Your final draft will be graded on how well you follow these steps, so if you do not make necessary revisions to your first draft, add citations, and/or format your paper, it will be reflected in your grade.

  1. Revise your first draft based on my feedback.

I leave feedback to ensure that your paper adheres to the instructions and requirements of the original assignment () and the basic standards of college writing. Use my feedback towards revising the areas that need attention in your paper.

  1. Add an MLA Works Cited page to your paper.

Create end citations of the songs you have chosen, whether you accessed them on websites or apps like Youtube, Spotify, or other digital platforms, or if you referenced physical albums for your paper. If you have cited song lyrics in your paper, then you also need to cite where those lyrics can be found. This means that you would cite a lyrics page such as Genius, or Metrolyrics or even an album booklet. Cite all of your sources! This includes a link to the song on a website or music app AND where the lyrics can be found if you quoted song lyrics in your first draft.

A guide on how to cite these kinds of sources is on page 2 of this assignment, and you can revisit (slides 10-15) for the basics of creating end citations for the Works Cited page.

  1. Apply MLA formatting to your paper.

Follow the to format your paper. These formatting rules are standard in all courses that require Modern Language Association (MLA) style formatting, and its imperative that you begin applying them now, if you have not already done so.
