Use what you have learned in FS 101 to petition the NFPA.
Persuade the NFPA to make changes by addressing concerns you have regarding the current practices and standards as well as the various job performance requirements (JPF’s) in the current standard.
Write a 2–3-page persuasive essay to the NFPA committee detailing your concerns. In your essay, establish the issue and why it concerns you; describe, analyze, and prioritize the facts; analyze some opposing viewpoints, and formulate conclusions regarding what could be added to the standard to make it applicable to the needs of firefighters being trained for interior fire operations.
Use the persuasive essay map as a supplemental resource to guide your writing.
Address a minimum of three changes and justify each to the NFPA committee citing sources where applicable.
NOTE: This assignment will require outside research. Use at least two credible sources beyond the text material and discuss how you evaluated the credibility of the resources used. You may consult the Library, the internet, and other course material, as well as any other outside resources in supporting your task.
