For this response, please reflect on the second half of Catherine Liu’s Virtue Hoarders: The Case against the Professional Managerial Class and the article by Eric Blanc and Jeremy Gong.

Please remember that while the reflection is a more freeform assignment, I would still like to see you break your reflection into a series of discrete paragraphs rather than one long paragraphs. I would like to see you quote directly from the (twice per paragraph is ideal) to support whatever claims you make.

Please use the following questions only as a guide. Rather than structuring your essay as a response to one or more of these questions specific questions, Im more interested in having you simply respond to the text while thinking about these questions:

Liu

1. In the second half of the book, does Liu effectively make her critique of the PMC? What were the strongest or weakest points?

2. Was there an example or argument from the second part of the book that you either found particularly compelling or particularly objectionable?

3. Is there anything that might have made her critique stronger?

Blanc and Gong

1. In this article Blanc and Gong make an argument for centering class. Do you find their argument persuasive? Why or why not?

2. Beyond class, Blanc and Gong offer a larger critique of capitalism itself. What is there critique here — and do you find it persuasive? Why or why not?
