I actually thought that my score would have been higher. I did not dare ask my wife or friends how they would rate my listening….lol. However, I actually thought I would have scored higher than a 53 out of a possible 75 by scoring 5 popints on every question. I wnet back to the assessment and retook the test and scored a 56. As I was reading the questions again, I did my best to answer the questions as honest as I could and discorved that there are a few questions that you do not want to score high on. Questions such as Number 2 asking if you pay closer attention to people that are more similar to you – I like to think that I pay attention to everyone that I converse with the same, so I only scored this question as a Frequently- 3 points. To score higher onm that question would suggest for me to be rude and pay closer attention to only people who are similar to me. Another question that I did not understand why you would want a higher score on was, number 10 – to pretend to understand when you really don’t about a difficult subject. I do not have the luxuary to just dismiss information just because the subject is difficult to understand in my career field, as an aircraft systems trainer/SME, I have to understand the details and I find that I carry this form of listening into my personal life which can make some people standoffish, however the point of this is that I wouldn’t want to change this habit, I need to understand things. Also, question 8, I only scored as O – 2 points, the question related to allowing your mind to wander while professors are lecture or other people are talking, how rude to score higher than a 2 (even that is bad), but my point is that there are very few times I allow this to happen because, if the professoe is lecturing than maybe I need to know the information to understands the subject to score well on test and assignments.
So, Is there room for improvements, well yes, however my score will get lower and I don’t think that is a bad thing for the questions of this assessment.
