This week’s readings and films focus on intercultural conflicts, and the ways that social movements, artists, advocacy organizations, and other groups of people organize to bring peace, justice, and restore dignity to those who have suffered from indignities and violence. One of the strategies that is mentioned in chapter 13 is the concept of “decolonization workshops” to empower Indigenous migrants in the US. The documentary “Acting Together in the World Stage,” on the other hand, addresses how artists use the arts as an “aesthetic intervention” to empower victims of state violence, war, genocide, and racism. In both situations what we learn is that storytelling can  turn the official story around, that is offer a counternarrative.
