Select a health care topic of interest to you (TOPIC-mandatory staffing ratios legislation – again, better or worse for nurse/patient outcomes?) and explore it in detail.

Choose any issue related to health care policy or nursing practice. Discuss the issue from the position of a nurse leader. Explore your topic in the published peer-reviewed scholarly literature (evidence). Depending on your topic, it may be important to also explore public opinion, position statements of related professional organizations, and / or legislative actions related to the topic. Develop your argument with support from relevant scholarly literature (nursing journal that is evidence based, within 5 years). Begin with an introduction leading to a thesis statement then develop the topic using section headings specific to the major points you discuss. Conclude with a summary. Do not include an abstract. The body of the paper (excluding title page and references) is to be no more than 6 pages in length, using APA format. Two (2) points will be deducted for every page over 6 pages. See the grading rubric for more information.
