Discuss the influence of culture on socialization, especially gender socialization. Include a discussion on the history of sex-roles and gender performance and the influence of social institutions and culture on the conceptions surrounding human sexuality. Connect sociological theories to your analysis. Example What might the structural functionalist say? What might the feminist perspective say?
Topic 2:
Discuss the socialization process, self-perception and gender binary. Include a discussion on identity development as discussed by Erickson, Troiden and Cass. What is dual-identity formation? What is significant about this research as it relates to people’s lived experiences. What are the consequences of gender norms violation? Connect sociological theories to your analysis. Example What might the structural functionalist say? What might the feminist perspective say?
