For reflection one you are asked to personalize course material by exploring the following questions:
1. Reflect on specific course content ( modules 1-3) what three changes could you see our society making to be more child and youth
positive and, using the course material to justify the changes, why are they important for people working with children and youth?
2. How has the course material (modules 1-3), challenged the way you have categorized and/or characterized marginalized children and
youth and/or helped you reflect on your own experienced marginalization or privilege in new ways? Use the course material to think
about specific groups of youth who are marginalized (i.e. Indigenous youth, Black youth, LGBTQ+ youth) and particular behaviours that
you might have observed and made sense of in specific ways.
Requirement for all Written Assignments:
· APA format (double space, 12 font, Times New Roman, 1-inch margin all around, approximately 250 words a page.
· References should be documented as bibliography at the end of your paper. Do not use footnotes or endnotes within the written paper.
· Do not exceed the page limit specified for each assignment. The instructor will only grade materials up to the maximum page limit.
· All written assignments must be uploaded to culearn on or before the due date. It is recommended that you do not leave your submission to the
final 20 minutes of the deadline to ensure that you have enough time to properly upload your assignment and compensate for any technical difficulties
you may encounter. If assignment is uploaded as “draft” it will not be graded until properly submitted and it will be considered late. Please be sure that
your assignment is submitted properly to avoid late penalties.

In the personal reflection papers, students personalize their course material with the completion of
two personal reflections. The paper must include proper APA citation to course material. This paper
may not exceed 2 pages in length, doubled space. Size 12 font, Times New Roman, 1-inch margins.
The personal reflection should be 500 words in length.
Personal Reflection 1 explores the following questions:
1. Reflect on specific course content (modules 1-3), what three changes could you see our society
making to be more child and youth positive and, using the course material to justify the
changes, why are they important for people working with children and youth?
2. How has the course material (modules 1-3), challenged the way you have categorized and/or

– Is the meaning of your work clear without grammar or spelling mistakes?
Reference and Copyright 2 points
-Does the work have no citation or bibliographic errors?
Understanding of course content, context and purpose 3 points
-Is course content fully integrated into the paper with specific, complex links established between
the content, course and the assignment?
Analysis of experience 4 points
– Does your answer provide an in-depth interpretation and insight into your thinking about
marginalized children and youth.
-Does your answer integrate alternative viewpoints and contextualizes your own and others’
experiences of marginalization and privilege?
Critical self awareness 4 points
– Does your answer show how your engagement with the course content includes reflection and
questioning of your values, beliefs and preconceptions?
-Does your answer articulate the new perspectives you have developed through engaging with the
content and this questioning?
-Does your answer show your understanding of yourself and a comprehensive understanding of the
experiences of a range of marginalized children and youth?
Alternative Perspectives 3 points
– Does your answer show evidence of you synthesizing alternate and divergent perspectives and
ideas to create new knowledge?
