Speaking Authentically About Myself:
We would like to learn about YOU. Please think about what makes you unique, has brought you to this place in your life, values that define who you are, and what is appropriate and interesting to share with an audience. This is the only speech that does not require external sources. Instead, you can speak from the heart. Authentic speaking means that you are essentially YOU…the same you who goes to other classes, perhaps a job, and to the store after work. Examples of topic ideas would include (but are not limited to) the following:
What I learned from being raised on a farm.
The most important lesson I learned in high school
How Cancer/an accident/depression changed my life
The thing I value most
Why Family is Important to Me
Why I want to be a Nurse
These are the specifics:
* 5-7 minute speech (you have a safety window from of 20 seconds over or under with no penalty; you will lose 1 point for each 15 seconds over or under beyond that 20 second buffer)
* Assessed using our special occasion rubric.
* 200 speaking points, 35 outline points (following recipe available on side tab) as the course points under the course outline stated
* one visual aid that is visible to entire audience (please use technology or a large object so that it need not be passed around the class).
On your outline, be sure to put the following:
