Purpose:
This assignment is the first part of a self-assessment that allows you to determine how you manage your time and approach college reading and writing.  You will reflect and develop goals to improve your time management, reading and writing skills.
It is critical that you reflect and share accurate responses as in Week 8, you will assess your performance and how well you met the goals created in week 1.
How to Set Up the Paper
Create a Word or Rich Text Format (RTF) document that is double-spaced, Times New Roman 12-point font.  The final product will be no longer than 3 pages in length. Write clearly and concisely.
Instructions:
Read:
Read the two modules, Reading Strategies and Writing Strategies  in the College Success Module under Content as you will be using these modules to complete part of the Success Skills Assessment.

Use this Success Skills Assessment #1 Template to complete this project.
Submit the paper and the Time Management Assessment results in the Assignment Folder (The assignment submitted to the Assignment Folder will be considered the student’s final product and therefore ready for grading by the instructor.  It is incumbent upon the student to verify the assignment is the correct submission.  No exceptions will be considered by the instructor).
Use the following to meet the Assessment requirements.
Checklist
Specific Project Requirements

Proofread your paper

Read and use the grading rubric while completing the paper to ensure all requirements are met that will lead to the highest possible grade.
Students may not use second person writing.  First person writing is allowed but should be contained to areas such as the Approach that requires a discussion about the student.  The Time Management Assessment is about the results of the assessment and not the student so write about the results.

Contractions are not used in business writing, so do not use them.

Paraphrase and do not use direct quotations.  Paraphrase means you do not use more than four consecutive words from a source document.  Removing quotation marks and citing is inappropriate.  Instead put a passage from a source document into your own words and attribute the passage to the source document.  There should be no passages with quotation marks.  Using more than four consecutive words from a source document would require direct quotation marks.  Changing words from a passage does not exclude the passage from having quotation marks.   If more than four consecutive words are used from source documents, this material will not be included in the grade.

You are expected to use the research and weekly course materials to develop the analysis and support the reasoning.   There should be a robust use of the course material.  Material used from a source document must be cited and referenced.  A reference within a reference list cannot exist without an associated in-text citation and vice versa.  Changing words from a passage does not exclude the passage from having quotation marks.

Use in-text citations and provide a reference list that contains the reference associated with each in-text citation.

You may not use books in completing this problem set unless part of the course material.  Also, do not use a dictionary, Wikipedia, dictionaries, Investopedia or similar sources.  For this assignment, only Reading Strategies and Writing Strategies are used.

Provide the page or paragraph number in every in-text citation presented.  Since the eBook does not have page numbers, include the chapter title and topic heading.  If using a video, provide the minutes and second of the cited material.

Introduction
(Write an Introduction paragraph.  The Introduction paragraph is the first paragraph of the paper and will be used to describe to the reader the intent of the paper explaining the main points covered in the paper.  This intent should be understood prior to reading the remainder of the paper so the reader knows exactly what is being covered in the paper.)
(Write the introduction last to ensure that the main points are covered.)
Time Management Assessment Results
(Discuss the results of the Time Management Assessment.  Explain the areas of strength and areas that need improvement.)
(This element is related to the results and not you)   Write only about the results.  Be specific)
Current Approach
(Explain the  currently approach used to read course materials and to write in discussions and written assignments.  Provide examples.
(For example, you may discuss skimming, reading and rereading, taking notes, waiting until last minute to complete assignment so there is little to no time to proof work.).
(This element does not require the use of the course materials but instead is about your specific behaviors.  Be truthful and be specific).
Reflection/Strengths and Areas of Improvement
(Using the Reading and Writing Modules, reflect on your skills in relation to reading and writing.  Identify specific skills from each module.  Then, discuss your areas of strength and areas that need improvement.  There should be at least three areas of strength and three areas of weakness.
Goals
(Identify and describe a minimum of three goals for areas that need improvement.  The areas of improvement will come from the reflection element discussed above.
Use the readings from the Reading and Writing Modules to support the reasoning.  Note that more than three goals will receive higher points on the grading rubric for Number of Goals)

References
(The reference page is on a separate page from the report.  The reference page is completed according to APA with each reference left-justified with hanging indentation for subsequent lines.  References are completed in alphabetical order.  Please see the module, Learn to Use APA to ensure references are in APA format.)

(This assignment requires students to use APA for in-text citations and a reference list.  A reference should appear under the reference section of the paper for each in-text citation in the paper.  A reference may not exist without the associated in-text citation and vice versa.)
