One of the roles of a team manager is to develop and support the members of their team in the workplace. Team managers provide clear guidance to their team members throughout the stages of a team (i.e., forming, storming, norming, and performing). Before coaching a team through the development stages, a team manager must be aware of the type of team that they are managing as well as its role in the organization.

  • Identify one type of team that is used in the workplace, and explain its importance from both a workforce perspective and an organizational perspective.

Review and consider the types of teams presented by your peers. One way to approach replying to your peers is to share your thoughts on two of your peers responses, addressing additional benefits or challenges. Another approach would be to expand on the discussion by providing your perspective through the introduction of additional examples of team types or additional workforce or workplace benefits.
