1. Import the data sets. You do not need to write code for this if you choose to use the import wizard.
2. Merge countydata with CensusBureauDivisions, to add the Census Bureau Divisions to the main dataset.
3. Create a variable POPDENSITY that is the population divided by land area.
4. Sort the data set by POPDENSITY and print the data set (or a few observations) to see which county is the most dense.
5. Create a variable ELDERLY which is “High” if the percentage of 65+ is greater than 13.5 and “Low” otherwise.
6. Create a frequency table of ELDERLY and create either a pie chart or bar chart.
7. Compute the mean and the median of the percentage of high school graduates for each census bureau division using only one PROC statement.
8. Create a histogram of physicians per person. You will need to create a variable for physicians per person first.
9. Create a boxplot of per capital income (PERCAPINC).
10. Construct a 95% confidence interval for the mean number of hospital beds per county.
11. Conduct a significance test for the claim that the mean total serious crimes per county is less than 32,500 at a 5% significance level.
12. Create a scatterplot of the percentage of high school graduates and the percentage below the poverty line.
13. Compute the correlation coefficient for the same two variables.
