Your paper should be two to three pages, double spaced.
This paper should argue that some skill you have is a good example of intelligence that is not merely rule-based symbol manipulation.
Paragraph 1 should briefly describe the structure of the paper and state your thesis clearly. Use first person for clarity. For example: “First, I’ll explain why…” “Second, I’ll argue that…” “My thesis is that…” etc.
Paragraph 2 should give an example of rule-based symbol manipulation, and explain why it is rule-based symbol manipulation.
Paragraph 3 should explain your skill.
The remainder of the paper should draw on at least one of our readings, and on contrasts between what you described in paragraphs 2 and 3, to argue that your skill is a good example of intelligence that is not merely rule-based symbol manipulation.
