Prior to completing this post, you must watch the Universal Design Media in Week 3 Documents & Resources. Once you have viewed the media, complete the following:
Think about someone who uses a wheelchair or has a hearing loss or a visual impairment. Next, take a trip around your office or workplace (this could also be your virtual workplace), a community center you frequent, or a shopping venue. As you take your tour, think about the seven principles of universal design, and look for things that might be obstacles for them. Conversely, also look for things that would make it easier for someone with a disability.
Now create a graphic that compares and contrasts your observations. On one side, list the obstacles you found. On the other, list the accommodations you found. When finished, think about what you have learned. Write a brief statement on universal design, about what you learned, what you found interesting, and how you will use this information in your professional practice or personal life.
